Easy Fall Place Setting
During the fall months, we often celebrate Halloween and Thanksgiving. Those are big times for families to come together at the dining room table and tell what they are thankful most for. However, in regards to Halloween that is a time to get all dressed up and take your children and/or grandchildren around neighborhoods or visiting your local Trunk-or-Treat.
Today I am going to share some easy place setting ideas you can use to make your table festive without spending much. Most items are repurposed, bought at the local Dollar Store, Wal-Mart, or clearance section at my local craft store. Yes, I am a huge clearance shopper. With our place setting ideas I have added this year’s centerpiece and coasters. I made both this year that I would love to share with you as well.
Pictured above is a wire basket that I found at Target. I added 2 mason jars to it with a Yankee Candle. Inside the mason jars, I put some fall burlap sunflowers that I found at the Dollar Store with some greenery.
I love using some fake flowers around the home due to the mess and maintenance of real ones. Don’t get me wrong real ones are beautiful but they eventually die. With a table centerpiece, I prefer fake because when flowers die they often start dropping peddles. I do not want peddles in my food or making a mess on my table before we (or the kids) sit down to eat.
Place Setting Ideas:
Pictured here is of some gold and white plaid heavy-duty fabric that I picked up at JoAnn Fabrics to make beautiful placemats that accent the white plates and pumpkin. I just wish I got an extra yard to make matching napkins because when I went back to my local store they were all out.
The pumpkin is actually one from the Dollar Store that I painted with some antique white that I had as a sample of the wall color. Then the stem is a piece of scrap wood that I found in my box of scrap wood that I received from Chuck at One Asterisk Woodworks. He makes some incredible pieces if you are looking for anything unique made with wood he is the guy that can make it happen!
Due to my pumpkin obsession, I ended up buying way too many. I was running out of options and then came up with another easy centerpiece idea. By stacking a pumpkin on top of a clay pot I could easily make my table have the same clean and crisp fall pumpkin patch feel. I also was able to stash some chocolate in the pots as no one will know unless they remove the pumpkin.
Pictured here are napkins with red burlap fabric that I picked up from the local craft store. I added some fall looking fake leaves to pull the orange of the pumpkin that was purchased from the Dollar Store in with the red burlap napkins. This appeared to give it a more complete and fall feel.
You can add a little message to a tag on your pumpkin. I decided to go with a fall quote that I found over at The Old Summers Home.
Nothing says fall than sitting on your porch with a warm cup of tea (or pumpkin spice coffee) in a big sweater. You could be just taking in the fresh air or allowing your kids to run free. It’s very relaxing.
Then in the evenings you could cuddle up by the fire and watch a fun Halloween movie. My favorites are the Charlie Brown holiday series. I record it each and every year or I make sure I am home to watch it.
Coasters were purchased through Amazon and then I used permanent vinyl on top to complete my Fall coasters.
It really doesn’t take much effort to make your place settings fall-terrific. Most of the items I found at my local craft store, Wal-mart, Amazon, or the Dollar Store. It just takes imagination and you can turn your ordinary place setting into an extraordinary one.
Do you have a fall place setting, a centerpiece, or custom coasters that you are excited about? Please do tell me and/or share in the comments. I absolutely would love to see them.
