How To Have an Amazing Family Movie Night

Family movie nights can be full of indecision and conflicting choices; this makes them difficult to run smoothly. When you want to have a regular night to bond with your family, you want it to be conflict-free. Whether your children are still young or quickly growing up, these tips for how to have an amazing family movie night will make a memorable event out of quality family time.

Keep Lists of Everyone’s Movie Preferences

Before you start planning the big event, make sure to ask what everyone wants to watch. Your kids may have similar preferences, which can make the decision of what to watch easier. When making your lists, don’t forget to put in your own family-friendly movies. For instance, if you want to introduce them to your favorite Disney classic that came out long before they were born, then a family movie night is the perfect opportunity!

Vote on the Movie a Week in Advance

Now that you have your lists, it’s time to figure out exactly which movie everyone wants to watch. Pick out one or two movies from each person’s list and place them on a different sheet that everyone will see. Give each family member two or three votes, depending on how many movies there are, and have them pick their favorite, second favorite, and so on. Having multiple votes will prevent people from picking only their own movie choice.

Theme the Whole Day

With your movie picked out, you now have to make the day extra special for your family. When it comes to how to have an amazing family movie night, a themed day will add the magic to your night. Theme your family dinner around the movie that was chosen. Make snacks that match the mood of the movie. The more creative you get, the more memorable the evening will be. Let your children dress up for the entire day to match the movie. If you’re watching a princess movie, let them be princesses for the day. They’re your babies and deserve the world.

Put the “Family” in Family Movie Night

If you have family home videos, dust them off and have a special family video edition of movie night. Older children may have fun reminiscing on their childhoods, and younger children may find your childhood amusing. Older video formats like tapes and film are outdated, and you may not have the technology required to play them anymore. If this is the case, many of these types of film can be digitized for you to burn onto a DVD or Blu-Ray with other videos or pictures. If you’re a tech-savvy parent, you can edit the videos together and put your children’s favorite songs to the pictures. A home-movie montage can warm up your family before the main feature begins.

Have Fun!

The most important part is having fun with your family. You aren’t movie critics; try to sit back, relax, get everyone off their phones, and enjoy the time spent with your loved ones.

Sincerely,

Signature
