The Fall season is approaching and the weather is changing. There are so many fun activities you can do with your family this Fall. My family enjoys fall soccer, picking apples, making pumpkin everything, neighborhood walks, and of course arts and crafts for those rainy or stormy days.
Fall Soccer
You may have seen recently that we have started fall soccer and I have seen a few other families start as well. It is so great to see the discipline a child develops with a sport and the respect they have for their coach.
Apple Picking in Virginia
Apple picking is one of my favorite things to do as a family as we can collect so many to make pies, tarts, apple sauce, apple crisp, and so much more. With where we live in Virginia it does take over an hour to find a place to go apple picking and it is worth it.
One of our favorite things that my husband sometimes makes us is apple cinnamon waffles. He cuts up bits of apples and adds a dash or two of cinnamon to the mix to make a wonderful tasty waffle.
Other apple recipes I came across this year are different pies, crisps, donuts, and more. Do you ever think of using apples for dipping or what about on sandwiches or in salads? I only think of it when we are at a restaurant and they provide the menu where the descriptions share a brief summary.
Pumpkin Spice Everything Please:
I absolutely love pumpkin recipes! Every fall the boys and I make pumpkin muffins, bread, coffee, and so much more. Stay tuned as I will be sharing some recipes very soon.

Free Outdoor Fall Activities:
The weather is cooler and we enjoy being outside even more since we are not coming inside dripped in sweat. We often go for evening walks, stop by the local playgrounds, go on a scavenger hunt, and practice some sports including soccer, baseball, and more.
Did you know if you subscribe to my blog you will never miss a post and you can get for FREE my fall nature scavenger hunt? This makes for a nice family activity and teaches your little ones about their surroundings.
Fall Crafts and Activities for Kids:
Below are a few crafts and activities from other moms that I thought you would enjoy. Some of the activities would even be possible when it is raining. If you like one of the options below go ahead and click on the picture. It will take you straight to their site where they provide the directions and printables.
I asked a few other Moms to contribute and let me know what they like best about fall:
Annie at Pancakes and Snuggles used to love baking, but now with two under three it has posed a challenge. She enjoys taking her girls to apple festivities in Chicago, leaf rubbing with crayons, and eating/drinking all the pumpkin spice things.
Genevieve at Oh Boy its a Baby is located in France and shares her love of fall that includes baking, of course, I am an avid home baker. Nothing puts a smile on my face (and my family’s faces) more than the smell of something freshly baked! As a family, we also love being outdoors in nature to see all the trees and leaves changing. Then running through them once they have all fallen to the ground. We often go on walks or bring our bikes. My son packs his backpack full of his favorite toys, mainly cars, and dinosaurs.

Great ideas! I SO wish we had apple orchards and cider mills where I live. One of my favorite memories as a kid was going to the local cider mill during the fall.

Apple picking sounds so fun! I’ve always wanted to do it but hopefully I can actually try it this year. I enjoy going hiking in the Fall once the weather cools down.

Wow! Some great ideas for keeping the little ones entertained. We’ve got an apple tree in out back garden so don’t have to go far to pick apples!
I’m looking forward to eating some pumpkin though!

Yes, lady! I love this list – and I am so pumped for Fall! Now, if we could just get some cooler weather down her in Florida, life would be grand!

I hope you guys get some soon! Here in Virginia today it was a high of 73 and it felt great, but this weekend it will be back in the mid-80s.

Who doesn’t love fall?! There is so much fun stuff to do. Our family goes apple and pumpkin picking each year. It’s a family favorite each year. I appreciate the health benefits we get from being outdoors, spending time together, and the nutritional benefits of apples and pumpkins.
Some of my favorite pictures of my kids were taken in the fall. My scrapbooks always have tons of fall pages.
And then there’s football! We’re big football fans and my kids either play football or cheer for it

Some great ideas here. I love just cuddling in warm with my family, I hate the cold. Halloween brings pumpkins and pumpkin pie, I enjoy pumpkin pie.
My dad often gives us apples which I make into Apple crumble, yummy!

Even though I cringe at the fact that the weather will start to drop, fall is a lovely time of the year. I really like the checklist in this post.

I love the thankful tree! Such a good idea to get our kiddos into this habit! I am totally going to do this activity with my 4yr old!

Caught sight and skimmed over your Fall post – you’ve included a great deal here! I’m in Australia and it feels like Autumn here and we are supposed to be in Spring. Swap you!

Love all these ideas! One of my favorite things to do in the fall as a kid was picking apples. We lived near an orchard and it was so fun to spend hours there picking hundreds of apples. I remember climbing up the trees to get the really big apples. We don’t get a ton of fall where we live, as it quickly changes into winter, but this year I want to enjoy the fall while it lasts. Too bad I don’t like anywhere near an apple orchard anymore, but we did visit one a few years ago so our son could enjoy apple picking.
